You will need to make a reservation for Spin classes. Lap Pool Lap Pool lanes are available by reservation. Pools Leisure Pool, Exercise Pool, Zero Entry Pool, Lazy River, and Water Slide are all available. Locker Rooms All Locker Rooms are open. Lockers are free for daily use and half-size lockers can be rented out for a monthly fee. Don’t forget your towel! Courts Basketball and Pickleball Courts are available for all members and guests. To keep our members safe, and to promote a family friendly facility, The Dow Bay Area Family YMCA community attire expectations include: No explicit or inappropriate language/designs on clothing Appropriate shoes (no sandals) that cover the whole foot, and do not leave marks are required Buttocks must be covered. Membership Policies

MEMBERSHIP AND FACILITY INFORMATION EVERYONE IS WELCOME. The YMCA is a membership-based organization open to all people, from all backgrounds. The YMCA welcomes women and men, girls and boys of all ages, races, ethnicities, religions, sexual orientation, abilities and financial circumstances. Our facility and the programs we offer embrace diversity, reflecting the needs and composition of the communities they serve. Here at the YMCA you don’t buy a membership, you join and belong to the YMCA. The YMCA has over 21 million members who belong to the Y, spread out over 2,600 facilities nationwide. As a member of the YMCA, you belong to a community of people focused on wellness, family, and helping others. Now that you have taken the first step by becoming a member we encourage you to take advantage of all we have to offer. To help you get started, this handbook is to act as a guide and is subject to change. It will provide you with general information regarding your membership, our facility, and YMCA policies. Table of Contents YMCA MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION MEMBER / PARTICIPANT CODE OF CONDUCT POLICY Using the principles of Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility and Inclusion as a guide, we have implemented the following Code of Conduct to ensure that all who participate in the YMCA enjoy a safe, welcoming and comfortable environment. We expect persons using the YMCA to act maturely, to behave responsibly, and to respect the rights and dignity of others. Our Member / Participant Code of Conduct Policy lists examples of prohibited actions. Such actions include, but are not limited to the following: Unsafe or inappropriately distracting, immodest, or sexually revealing attire. Swimsuits are required in all pools, hot tubs, saunas, and steam rooms. Clothing with vulgar/profane writing or language is not allowed. Harassment or intimidation by words, gestures, body language, or any type of menacing behavior. Verbally abusive behavior, including swearing or vulgar language, name-calling, or shouting. Physical contact with another person in an angry, aggressive, or threatening way. Carrying or concealing a weapon or any device or object that may be used as a weapon. (MCL 28.4250) Loitering within or on the grounds of the YMCA Sexually explicit conversation or behavior; any sexual contact with another person on YMCA property, or at YMCA sponsored programs. Smoking on YMCA property – the YMCA and its property is a smoke and tobacco free environment (e-cigarettes included). Theft or behavior that results in the destruction or loss of property or injury to a person. Using, possessing, buying, or selling drugs, narcotics, or illegal chemicals on YMCA property, or at YMCA sponsored programs; or the unsanctioned use, possession, buying, or selling of alcohol. Engaging in conduct that unreasonably interferes with another member or staff persons’ enjoyment of the YMCA. In order to be able to carry out these policies, we ask that members and participants identify themselves to staff when asked. Adherence to the YMCA Code of Conduct Policy is essential. Failure to follow this code of conduct will result in disciplinary actions, which may include immediate eviction from the premises, loss of privileges, suspension or expulsion. The YMCA may contact police or other authorities for assistance or to take appropriate legal action. The CEO, or other authorized representative in his/her discretion, will determine whether a violation of the YMCA Member/Participant Code of Conduct has occurred. Members and participants are encouraged to take responsibility for their personal comfort and safety by asking any person whose behavior threatens their comfort or unreasonably interferes with their enjoyment of the YMCA to refrain from such behavior. Anyone who feels uncomfortable in confronting a person directly is encouraged to report issues or concerns to the attention of the YMCA Staff, who are always ready to be of assistance. Members and participants are also asked to bring to the attention of the CEO any issues or concerns they have which apply to the staff of the Dow Bay Area Family YMCA. Every effort will be made to ensure that reports are investigated and resolved promptly and effectively. MEMBER COMPLAINT AND GRIEVANCE PROCEDURE Member Complaint – For the purpose of this policy, a complaint is an expression of dissatisfaction with the operation of the YMCA and its programs and services. A complaint may be directed verbally or in writing to Joslyn Jamrog, Membership Director. If the complaint is not successfully resolved, the issue should be directed to the CEO who shall have final authority for resolving the issue. In complaints involving the CEO, the final authority shall rest with the Board of Directors Member Grievance – For the purpose of this policy, a grievance is a complaint or conflict over the implementation or interpretation of an approved YMCA policy, procedure, or practice. Any grievance must begin with Joslyn Jamrog, Membership Director. If not successfully resolved, the grievance may be appealed through the chain-of-command with the final authority resting with the CEO. All grievances must be made in writing within ten days (10) of the alleged violations. In grievances involving the CEO, the final authority shall rest with the Board of Directors. Members agree to a one-year commitment, and dues may be paid in full for one year or by using the YMCA monthly bank draft plan. Only members in good standing are allowed privileges of membership. Membership dues are not refundable. Full Privilege Memberships – Any person, who fills out a membership application, subscribes to the statement of mission, agrees to the annual commitment, pays membership dues as agreed upon at time of application and participates in the Association through its activities, services and/or financial support. Full privilege members shall have unlimited access to the YMCA facility during hours of operation, except where specific guidelines are in effect, providing their membership remains in good standing. This is why we are introducing the One Month Membership Trial for prospective members to try our facility, get to know our staff, and learn more about our programming. Individuals and families will only be able to test the YMCA for one trial month. There will be no extensions or additional trial months allowed. Financial Assistance Information 24/7 FITNESS 24/7 Fitness is our newest workout space at the Dow Bay Area Family YMCA. All members who are 18 years old and older and who have signed our 24/7 waiver are welcome to use this space. This part of our facility is not staffed, but is truly open around the clock. Get your fitness at your YMCA on your time–even on holidays, whenever we’re open, and when we’re closed! 24/7 Fitness is not staffed and is only available to our members who are at least 18 years old. Be 18+ Years Old Because of safety and legal reasons, only members who are 18 years and older, and who can legally sign the liability waiver, will be granted 24/7 Fitness access for after hours use. Check Your Member Card This will not apply to all members, but if any of our members are currently using a barcode that begins with the letter A, the new 24/7 Fitness entrance scanner will not be able to read the barcode to allow after hours access. Please check your Member Card and pick up a new one at no cost at the Member Service Desk if necessary. Update Your Photo If your photo has not been updated in our system, or is poorly visible, we do ask that you update your photo with our Member Service Desk staff. This should only take a moment, and is required for us to monitor our security camera equipment and verify that only our members with signed legal use of 24/7 access are using the new fitness space. Sign the Access Waiver All members who are 18 will need to sign the liability waiver and honor code in order to access the 24/7 Fitness outside of regular business hours. We need your approval of our terms of use which include not allowing friends or family to use your Member Card. Failure to abide by the honor code may result in forfeiting your membership to the Dow Bay Area Family YMCA. Financial AsSistance Programs

Individuals will not be turned away from participating in programs, activities, and/or membership due to their inability to pay. The Y maintains a generous financial assistance program for youth, adults, and families who demonstrate financial need. Funding for this program is provided by fundraising events at the Dow Bay Area Family YMCA and community-wide donors.
