Emergency Food Box
During this unprecedented time, we are very pleased to announce that thanks to partnerships with the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan and Sunrise National Distributors, through coordination with the United Way of Bay County, and funding through the COVID-19 Community Response Fund at the Bay Area Community Foundation, we will now be offering a delivery service for our Emergency Food Boxes.
We understand that some families may not be able to leave their homes at this time, but we remain vigilant in helping to feed our community. Families or individuals with limited mobility may now choose to have their Emergency Food Box delivered to them rather than pick it up at our YMCA.
Please note: Our staff will be practicing social distancing during deliveries, and we expect the same from our Emergency Food Box recipients. Read below to learn how to receive a food box.
Qualifying families should dial 2-1-1 (or 888-636-4211) to participate and be referred to a location to receive a food box. This number reaches 211 of Northeast Michigan which can provide other valuable information regarding where to find various local food pantries or food distribution services.
How it works:
To be referred to the Y to pick up an Emergency Food Box, Please call 211 of Northeast Michigan at these times:
Monday-Friday: 11:00am – 3:00pm
Saturday: 11:00am – 1:00pm
Once 211 of Northeast Michigan refers you to our location, give us a call to verify a pick-up time or delivery service at 989-895-8596.
*Limit of 1 Emergency Food Box per family per week.
