On Monday, August 18th at 4 PM, our natatorium will close for its annual restorative cleaning and maintenance. This important work keeps our pools safe, sparkling, and in top condition. We’ll reopen Monday, September 8th, refreshed and ready for you!
(Updated 8/18/25)
Starting sometime in November, we’ll close the entire natatorium (the whole pool area) for about 6 weeks to install a brand-new water slide! This required but exciting upgrade is a big win for our Y and our community. Due to the scale of the project and to keep everyone safe, the whole natatorium must be closed during construction. When we have a concrete date set for this project we will communicate that out to you.
Because we participate in YMCA Nationwide Membership, the Saginaw Family YMCA is always available to you to use for free. Also, we are working on a partnership with a local organization so that while our pools are closed for the slide replacement, you will have another option of getting in the water. Our Health & Wellness department is working to provide more low impact classes on land during this time as well. We’ll share access details and schedules soon so you can plan ahead.
Thank you for your patience and excitement as we make these improvements. We can’t wait to welcome you back to have even more fun and memories, especially with that new slide! If you have any questions or thoughts about these projects, you can always call me at my direct line at (989) 778-3447 or email me at skrankota@ymcabaycity.org.

Individuals will not be turned away from participating in programs, activities, and/or membership due to their inability to pay. The Y maintains a generous financial assistance program for youth, adults, and families who demonstrate financial need. Funding for this program is provided by fundraising events at the Dow Bay Area Family YMCA and community-wide donors.
