Advocacy

Advocate for Out-of-School Time Funding

Michigan’s state budget is still being decided — and the future of public funding for Out-of-School Time (OST) programs is on the line. Now is a vital time to make your voice heard and show policymakers why these programs matter. Our advocacy tools are here to help you connect with your state legislators, share the impact of your work, and urge them to protect and expand funding for afterschool and summer programs. Every call, email, and story makes a difference.

SUPPORT THE Y

Together, we are making a difference

We count on the generosity of you, our members, and community to help people of all ages and from all walks of life. Together we are committed to giving young people the resources to reach their potential, provide individuals with the access and support to lead healthy lives, and connect neighbors so they can come together for the common good.

With a focus on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility, strengthening communities is our cause. At the Dow Bay Area Family YMCA, we believe that lasting personal and social change happens when we all work together. Every day we work side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to be healthy, confident, connected and secure.

When you give to the Y, you are funding life-changing programs for children, adults, and families in the Bay City and surrounding areas to learn, grow, and thrive.

Volunteer your Time

As a Y volunteer, you can lead an exercise class, coach a basketball team, help out at a special event, or simply serve as a role model for young people.

Financial AsSistance Programs

Individuals will not be turned away from participating in programs, activities, and/or membership due to their inability to pay. The Y maintains a generous financial assistance program for youth, adults, and families who demonstrate financial need. Funding for this program is provided by fundraising events at the Dow Bay Area Family YMCA and community-wide donors.
