The season lasts 7 weeks in total. Practice starts the week before the first game, so teams can get two practices under their belt before gametime.

September 6th–October 11th

Games will run on Saturdays from September 6th to October 11th. The game day schedule will ultimately depend on the total number of registrations & teams. Most years, games run anywhere from 9:00am to 2:00pm.

The games will be at our Uptown Park, which is located across the street from the YMCA, on the corner of Saginaw & 10th Street.

The Park has a large parking lot to accommodate spectators, as well as the City Hall parking lot located to the north of the park. Participants & spectators are also welcome to park in the YMCA parking lot and walk across the street to the park.

Practices start the week of August 24th. The practice day/time for each team is determined by the volunteer coach. While we can try our best to accommodate practice requests, it is hard to guarantee a certain day/time

Divisions are typically a combination of 2 grades (1st & 2nd grade, 3rd & 4th grade, etc.) and we try to group kids by school, while also considering teammate & coach requests.

Our registration form includes a spot to add teammate requests. These are not guaranteed, but we do our best to accommodate everyone.

For every league we have early registration and late registration pricing. Early registration typically opens in early June, with late registration beginning in early August.

If you can’t afford the registration fee, the YMCA has a generous sports scholarship fundJeff Buczek Memorial Scholarship– that can be applied to each league season. This scholarship will pay up to 100% of the registration fees.

If you have additional questions on our scholarships, please contact Joslyn Jamrog, Membership Director, at jjamrog@ymcabaycity.org

  • Early Registration: $70 for Y-members, $95 for non-members.
  • Late Registration: $85 for Y-members, $110 for non-members.

If you or someone you know is interested in coaching your child’s team, we will discount your registration fee by 20%. Reach out to Carly Mindykowski (cmindykowski@ymcabaycity.org), Sports Director, for more information.

Our League is successful because of our incredible community & parent volunteers. If you, or someone you know, is interested in coaching, please fill out our Volunteer Application (link it here) and reach out to Carly Mindykowski (cmindykowski@ymcabaycity.org), Sports Director, to be put on the coaches list.

There will be a mandatory coach meeting on Tuesday, August 12th at 6:30pm at the YMCA.

Flagsters is a clinicbased, introductory program to our Youth Flag Football League. The Flagsters clinic is a 6-week program that meets once per week and is intended for 3–5-year-olds.

Each week, kids will work on developing their skills to run, throw and catch, as well as working on their hand-eye coordination and agility.

Most of the time our programs will run in the rain or shine, but the safety of our athletes and coaches is priority number one. For practices and games, your coach will be the point of contact for any cancellations.

Registration will end on Sunday, August 3rd. At that point, we will assemble teams and send rosters and information to coaches. You can anticipate hearing from your coach by Monday, August 18th.

On Tuesday, August 19th, if you have not been contacted by a coach, you can reach out to our Sports Director, Carly Mindykowski (cmindykowski@ymcabaycity.org) for assistance.
