Job Title: Maintenance Project Lead (Full Time)

Reports to: Building and Grounds Director

Status:Full-time /Hourly (40 hours per week)/Eligible for benefits package

Schedule: Available for mid-day and closing shifts, with a minimum of one closing shift per week and availability to work at least one weekend per month

Compensation: Starting at $14.89 per hour & Free Household YMCA Membership

Position Summary:

The YMCA is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Maintenance Project Lead to support ongoing facility improvement and maintenance efforts. This position is responsible for the execution of maintenance projects, routine repairs, and general upkeep of the facility. Additional responsibilities include assisting with groundskeeping and indoor cleaning to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all members and staff. The Maintenance Project Lead will work closely with the Building & Grounds Director and Facilities Coordinator.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform any function necessary for the smooth and efficient operation of the facility in the spirit of teamwork.
  • Perform maintenance projects such as painting, carpentry, minor plumbing and electrical work, equipment repairs, and general facility upkeep.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance tasks across all facility systems and structures.
  • Support seasonal and routine groundskeeping duties, including lawn care, snow removal, landscaping, and debris cleanup.
  • Help with janitorial duties such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, window cleaning, restroom sanitation, and trash disposal.
  • Ensure that all tools and equipment are used and maintained safely and properly.
  • Monitor and report on facility issues and recommend necessary repairs or upgrades.
  • Collaborate with YMCA leadership and contractors on larger renovation and maintenance projects.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance-related requests or emergencies as needed.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment in accordance with YMCA standards and local safety regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade certification preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in facility maintenance or a related field.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry systems.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Willingness to perform physical labor in both indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must pass background check and meet YMCA child safety standards.

Financial AsSistance Programs

Individuals will not be turned away from participating in programs, activities, and/or membership due to their inability to pay. The Y maintains a generous financial assistance program for youth, adults, and families who demonstrate financial need. Funding for this program is provided by fundraising events at the Dow Bay Area Family YMCA and community-wide donors.
