Dow Bay Area Family YMCA

UPDATE FROM THE DOW BAY AREA FAMILY YMCA CEO

Greetings Members of the Dow Bay Area Family YMCA,

Whether you come to the YMCA to exercise, work, volunteer, receive childcare, or to take a program or class, I believe everyone ultimately comes here for the right reasons: first, to improve the lives of others and second, to improve themselves. I am extremely grateful for the support that we receive and the challenges that we face, because at the end of the day, we acknowledge that staying in a mindset of continuous improvement creates the best and safest experience possible for our community.

As 2023 comes to an end, we reflect on the positive changes the YMCA has brought to our community and look forward to exciting changes coming in 2024:

  • YMCA Uptown Park, which opened to our community this year, will undergo additional improvements which will include a pavilion and crosswalk to help ensure our community can cross the street safely!
  • Our first offsite YMCA childcare center will be opening December 26th at First Presbyterian Church in Bay City! If you are in need of childcare from birth to preschool, please contact Wendy at wplewa@ymcabaycity.org. Spots are filling quickly!
  • New lighting will be added in our Aquatics area.
  • Visitor screening software will be added at the front desk in the new year for enhanced safety of members and guests.
  • Paddleball Court D will be remodeled to provide more programming options, space to exercise, and enhance our TRX offerings!
  • We are not planning to increase membership dues at this time, and we are adding a new membership type called Adult +1 to provide an additional option for households with two adults!

The dedication and generosity of others is at the core of our mission and existence. The meals we serve and the scholarships we provide give anyone the opportunity to be healthy, confident, connected and secure. If you would like to donate to support others in our community, please follow the QR code below. If you would like more information about our organization, please contact me and I would be happy to meet with you.

I am honored to lead such a wonderful, community-forward organization. No matter the challenges and opportunities that 2024 may bring, we are looking forward to providing options for anyone to build a healthy spirit, mind, and body here with us.

Yours in service,

Steve Krankota, CEO

Financial AsSistance Programs

Individuals will not be turned away from participating in programs, activities, and/or membership due to their inability to pay. The Y maintains a generous financial assistance program for youth, adults, and families who demonstrate financial need. Funding for this program is provided by fundraising events at the Dow Bay Area Family YMCA and community-wide donors.
