AQUATIC EXERCISE

All of the Aquatic Exercise classes are free for Y-members! We ask that you reserve your spot for all group exercise classes at least one hour in advance at this time.

Aqua Fitness is a shallow water moderate intensity workout, using water and equipment for resistance, toning muscles, and increasing endurance and flexibility.

Tuesday and Thursday
8:30-9:15am

Senior Splash provides a gentle, low impact workout that is challenging and effective, giving you the benefits of both aerobic exercise and strength training. The program is perfect for those who are older, overweight, or have medical concerns such as arthritis or osteoporosis.

Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
9:30 – 10:15am

Waterworks is a low-impact workout that is fun, challenging, and effective. It gives you the benefits of both aerobic exercise and strength training. This class utilizes dumbbells, kick boards, and is taught in the Exercise Pool.

Ai Chi is a water-based total body strengthening and relaxation progression that bridges East and West philosophies, and integrates mental, physical, and spiritual energy. It combines Tai-Chi and Qi Gong concepts with Watsu techniques and is performed standing in shoulder-depth warm water using a combination of deep breathing and slow, broad movements of the arms, legs, and torso.

The Ai Chi progression moves (kata) from simple breathing to the incorporation of upper-extremity, trunk, lower-extremity, and finally total body involvement.

Veva-cise is a shallow water moderate to high intensity workout, using water and equipment for resistance, toning muscles, and increasing endurance and flexibility.

Financial AsSistance Programs

Individuals will not be turned away from participating in programs, activities, and/or membership due to their inability to pay. The Y maintains a generous financial assistance program for youth, adults, and families who demonstrate financial need. Funding for this program is provided by fundraising events at the Dow Bay Area Family YMCA and community-wide donors.
