Get in the game! The YMCA Basketball Academy (YBA) is back and better than ever! YBA is an instructional program designed for youngsters new to the sport of basketball as well as those who want to brush up on the rules, tactics, and skills, improve their game and most importantly, HAVE FUN!

Returning participants can use their orange/white jersey that was used in prior seasons. If a new jersey is needed, they can be purchased for an additional $10. All new jerseys that are purchased this season will be given to coaches and distributed by them.
Volunteer Coaches Wanted

The YMCA is seeking individuals that are interested in officiating YBA games. Must be motivated, dependable, mature, responsible and knowledgeable about basketball. High school and college students welcome. For additional information contact Nate Goddard.

Teams are formed based on the school/ location of the player. Each team is guaranteed at least one, one hour practice per week. Games will be played on Saturdays beginning November 11th at either the Dow Bay Area Family YMCA or Handy Middle School.
Practices will begin the week of October 23rd.
Hoopsters is a co-ed program that introduces the youngsters to the game of basketball. The hoops are lowered and hoop attachments are used to lower the basket to six feet. Offensive skills are the primary focus in this ‘first time’ basketball exposure for participants. Shooting, dribbling and passing are the main areas of focus. Participants will attend one session each week. Each day is limited to 35 participants.
Tuesday or Wednesday November 7 – December 20
Competitive Divisions for 5th/6th Grades
Competitive division games will be played more like a middle school regulation game. Players in competitive divisions should have 2-3 years experience and an expanding knowledge of basketball. Boys and girls will be separated and each grade will have their own division. Team rosters will need to be turned in with coach/player captain registration. Teams for competitive divisions must have a coach before registering.
YBA jerseys will need to be ordered separately from the program registration for new participants or for returning participants who need a new jersey.
