Job Title: Summer Graphic Design/Marketing Intern                               

Reports to: Marketing & Membership Director

Seasonal Position: May 2019 – August 2019

Compensation: Work Experience (unpaid), Free Y Membership during internship

Status: 10-20 hours

                                                                                                                                                                 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Y is seeking a fun, creative, enthusiastic and outgoing individual to provide graphic design and marketing support for the Dow Bay Area Family YMCA. This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Graphic Design/Marketing Intern will work closely with the Marketing & Membership Director and Marketing Coordinator and interact with all staff members.

 

JOB DETAILS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provides graphic design for print, web and digital media for internal and external use
  • Assists with the production of a wide range of marketing communications
  • Creates layouts and designs communications such as presentations, flyers, newsletters, event support materials, and brochures
  • Assists with social media initiatives and updates sites as directed
  • Takes photographs
  • Provides support and input for the planning and execution of grass roots marketing initiatives throughout the region supporting new and current initiatives
  • May represent the YMCA at special events
  • Assists with writing press releases and promotional copy
  • Completes other design and marketing projects as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Students pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, marketing, communications or business administration preferred
  • Experience working with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator), Microsoft Office, social media platforms (Word Press) and basic camera skills preferred
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Resourcefulness, ability to take initiative, and to work both independently and as a team member
  • Availability to work 10-20 hours per week in order to complete assigned projects
