Job Title: Maintenance Staff

Reports to: Facility Maintenance Director

Status: Part-time (flexible – up to 29 hours per week)

Schedule: Flexible hours – some weekend, early morning or evening shifts may be required

Compensation: $11.50 per hour & Free YMCA Household Membership

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Maintenance Staff are responsible for the overall cleanliness and general appearance of the YMCA facility and grounds and ensuring that we provide a safe and pleasant experience for everyone using our facility.

JOB DETAILS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintain all areas of the YMCA in a clean, presentable fashion
  • Clean locker rooms, restrooms, and childcare areas as scheduled
  • Replenish bathroom and locker room supplies
  • Clean, fold, and distribute towels
  • Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors
  • Empty trash and recycling
  • Clean rugs and carpets
  • Dust furniture and equipment
  • Wash windows, door panels, and sills
  • Set up and tear down tables and chairs for meetings, events, and facility rentals
  • Clean sidewalks and parking lots
  • Shovel and salt sidewalks and walkways
  • Complete minor repairs of interior/exterior building and exercise equipment, paint walls, replace lighting, and perform preventative maintenance as directed
  • Performs any other functions necessary for the smooth and efficient operation of the facility

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Required to pass criminal background checks
  • Prior experience and/or training in maintenance/facilities work preferred
  • Ability to engage and interact with co-workers, members, and guests from diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team

Financial AsSistance Programs

Individuals will not be turned away from participating in programs, activities, and/or membership due to their inability to pay. The Y maintains a generous financial assistance program for youth, adults, and families who demonstrate financial need. Funding for this program is provided by fundraising events at the Dow Bay Area Family YMCA and community-wide donors.
