Job Title: Fall Human Resources Intern

Reports to: Senior Director-Human Resources  

Seasonal Position: August 2024 – December 2024

Schedule: 10-12 hours per week (flexible daytime hours Monday-Friday)

Compensation: Work Experience (unpaid), Free Y Membership during internship

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The intern will provide business management support for the HR department, working directly with the Senior Director of Human Resources. The internship is an opportunity to gain hands on experience working as an integral member of the administrative team at the Dow Bay Area Family YMCA.

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Complete various special projects within the HR department
  • Organize HR records, help with new hire orientation and onboarding
  • Help aid in the process of performance reviews
  • Assist in recruiting and selection process
  • Perform tasks related to aiding in employee communication
  • Assist the HR team at local career fairs and mock interviews
  • Update posts on the YMCA LinkedIn page
  • Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint and Teams)
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Resourcefulness, ability to take initiative, and to work both independently and as a team member
  • Must be highly organized and have the ability to handle financial and other personal information in a confidential manne

Financial AsSistance Programs

Individuals will not be turned away from participating in programs, activities, and/or membership due to their inability to pay. The Y maintains a generous financial assistance program for youth, adults, and families who demonstrate financial need. Funding for this program is provided by fundraising events at the Dow Bay Area Family YMCA and community-wide donors.
