Status: Part-time (6-10 hours per week) May-August & September-October
Compensation: $11 per hour (also includes free YMCA Household Membership)
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Tennis Program Assistant is responsible for assisting the Tennis Program Lead in organizing and facilitating tennis programs for the YMCA.
JOB DETAILS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Assist the Tennis Program Lead in the organization, promotion, and coordination of all YMCA tennis programs including practices, camps and clinics.
Transport, set up, and maintain equipment for programs.
Ability to provide a positive, encouraging environment for student participants in order to ensure a safe and rewarding learning experience.
Ability to effectively communicate with students, parents and appropriate staff regarding program schedules, procedures, and expectations for participants.
Ensure program is operated in alignment with necessary safety measures and regulations as established by the Dow Bay Area Family YMCA.
Ability to motivate and encourage student athletes and resolve conflicts in a positive, productive manner.
Able to relate to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
Present a professional appearance and attitude at all times
Promote the mission and core values of the YMCA on a daily basis
Help to maintain a safe, clean, and organized facility
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ideal candidate will be outgoing, compassionate, and considered a “people person” with outstanding customer service skills
Prior experience playing and/or coaching tennis required
Self-motivated and energetic with the ability to take initiative

Financial AsSistance Programs
Individuals will not be turned away from participating in programs, activities, and/or membership due to their inability to pay. The Y maintains a generous financial assistance program for youth, adults, and families who demonstrate financial need. Funding for this program is provided by fundraising events at the Dow Bay Area Family YMCA and community-wide donors.
