Job Title: Summer HR Intern
Reports to: Senior Director-Human Resources
Seasonal Position: May 2023 – August 2023
Schedule: 10-12 hours per week (flexible daytime hours Monday-Friday)
Compensation: Work Experience (unpaid), Free Y Membership during internship
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The intern will provide business management support for the HR department, working directly with the Senior Director of Human Resources. The internship is an opportunity to gain hands on experience working as an integral
member of the administrative team at the Dow Bay Area Family YMCA.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Complete various special projects within the HR department
- Assist in recruiting and selection process
- Helps with new hire orientation and onboarding
- Organizes HR records
- Help aid in the process of performance reviews
- Prepare HR-related reports as needed
- Provide weekly updates to the employee web page and Linkedin page
- Collaborate with the Marketing team to ensure job postings are engaging and shared on social media
- Perform tasks related to aiding in employee communication
- Assist with employee wellness and mental health initiatives
- Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to multi-task
- Resourcefulness, ability to take initiative, and to work both independently and as a team member
- Must be highly organized and have the ability to handle financial and other personal information in a confidential manner
