Job Title: Winter Marketing Intern                          

Reports to: Marketing & Membership Director

Seasonal Position: January 2024 – May 2024

Compensation: Work Experience (unpaid), Free Y Membership during internship

Status: 10-20 hours/week

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Y is seeking a fun, creative, enthusiastic and outgoing individual to provide marketing support for the Dow Bay Area Family YMCA. This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Marketing Intern will work closely with the Marketing & Membership Director and Assistant Director of Marketing & Design and interact with all staff members.

JOB DETAILS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provides graphic design for print, web and digital media for internal and external use
  • Assists with the production of a wide range of marketing communications
  • Creates layouts and designs communications such as presentations, flyers, newsletters, event support materials, and brochures
  • Assists with social media initiatives and updates sites as directed
  • Takes photographs
  • Provides support and input for the planning and execution of grass roots marketing initiatives throughout the region supporting new and current initiatives
  • May represent the YMCA at special events
  • Assists with writing press releases and promotional copy
  • Completes other design and marketing projects as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Students pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, marketing, communications or business administration preferred
  • Experience working with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator), Microsoft Office, social media platforms (Word Press) and basic camera skills preferred
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Resourcefulness, ability to take initiative, and to work both independently and as a team member
  • Availability to work 10-20 hours per week in order to complete assigned projects

Financial AsSistance Programs

Individuals will not be turned away from participating in programs, activities, and/or membership due to their inability to pay. The Y maintains a generous financial assistance program for youth, adults, and families who demonstrate financial need. Funding for this program is provided by fundraising events at the Dow Bay Area Family YMCA and community-wide donors.
