1. Who can join?
All individuals are welcome to join the Dow Bay Area Family Y. The Dow Bay Area Family Y acknowledges and respects the wide range of religious, spiritual and philosophical beliefs that volunteers, members, staff and community participants may hold. The Y honors the range of beliefs in our community by displaying acceptance, presence, compassion and love. We embrace the worth of each individual and assist them in developing their unique gifts and abilities.
2. Is the YMCA a non-profit organization?
Yes, the YMCA is a non-profit organization.
3. Can I use my membership at other YMCAs?
The Dow Bay Area Family Y is an AWAY (Always Welcome at the Y) Y. We welcome current members of other Y’s and offer them 10 free visits/ year. You may use your Dow Bay Area Family Y membership at other Y’s, just make sure you have your current membership card and ask about their AWAY policy.
4. How can I become a member?
Stop in and visit us at the Dow Bay Area Family Y and we will register you for a membership! You can also register directly on our website page.
5. Can I use the facility if I am not a member?
Yes, the facility is open to everyone. Non-Members may use the facility by purchasing a Guest Pass. Passes are available for $5 per youth (17 years or younger), $10 per adult (18+ years old), or $20 per household (2 adults and dependents).
6. How much do memberships cost?
We have three membership options: Youth, Adult, and Household memberships. Youth Memberships: 17 years of age and under Costs: $18/month with a one time $54 joining fee. Adult memberships: 18 years of age and older. Costs: $54/month with a one time $132 joining fee. Household memberships: Two adults living in the same household, and all dependents that are full-time students. Costs: $78/month with a one time $234 joining fee.
7. Can members bring guests to the YMCA?
Yes, members may bring guests to the facility. The purchase of a day pass is required at a price of $5 per youth (17 years or younger), $10 per adult (18+ years old), or $20 per household (2 adults and dependents).
8. Do I have to be a member to participate in classes?
No, non-members can participate in classes but will be charged a different fee.
9. Do you have Child Care?
Yes, the Dow Bay Area Family Y has a full Childcare Center located at the South Entrance of the building. Our Childcare Center has everything from childcare to preschool. Our Childcare Center has 5 classrooms, a private playground, and a separate entrance for safe picking up and dropping off, as well as less daily traffic to ensure the safety of the children. *We ask that when parents are dropping off children under the age of 12 months, they give us a call the day before so we can provide proper staffing. Weekly schedule: Monday- Friday: 7:00 am – 6:00 pm Saturday: Closed Sunday: Closed
10. What are the operating hours?
Monday – Thursday: 5:30 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Friday: 5:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Saturday: 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Sundays: 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
11. What should I do if I lose my membership card?
New membership cards can be purchased for $5 at the Membership Service Desk.
12. What does a membership include?
A membership includes full access to our facility. You will be welcome to use our family center, gym, cardio and weight lifting equipment, aquatic center, locker rooms, computer lab, and more! Also, you will have the option to participate in our member value added classes that are free to members only.
13. Is financial aid available?
The Dow Bay Area Family Y’s pledge is that no one will be denied service based on their ability to pay. We are a 127- year old non-profit organization that serves our community with a continuum of educational, wellness, and recreational programs that foster healthy spirit, mind and body.
14. How is the YMCA different from a gym?
The YMCA is a friendly environment open to the community to promote better health and better living, physically, emotionally and mentally. Coming to the YMCA is a great experience that will benefit you each day. You are given a number of options each and every day, whether it includes running on our track, swimming in the pools, sitting in the Jacuzzi, or participating in a class, you have the tools needed to accomplish your goals.
15. Can my child use the facility on their own?
At the Dow Bay Area Family Y, children 10 years and older may use the facility on their own. Children under 10 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.
